OVERVIEW:


Sex education deals with the all aspects of sex. In this, the topics related to sex, responsibilities, human anatomy, sexual activity, fertility, right age for sex, reproductive rights, safe sex, birth control and abstinence in sex are explained in detail.

Earlier, teenagers were not given any information on this subject. It was also considered wrong to talk about these subjects in society. But in the 19th century the movement for such education was carried out. From then, the whole information about sex started being given to the children and the youth. In sex education, the sexual health of men and women, as well as pregnancy and its prevention, are described in detail.

This makes the youth aware of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as HIV/AIDS and many ways are also explained to protect the youth from these diseases. Therefore, sex education should be given to every child and adolescent at home or school.

Breast:

Breast is the part of women’s chest. It consists of adipose tissue, several nerves and nipples. Along with adolescence, the tissues of women’s breast also increase and they also develop the ability to breastfeed. Vagina:

Vagina is the inner part of women’s genitalia that is attached to the vulva and uterus. Sexual intercourse is done at this place. Menstruation and child also come out of this place at birth.

Vulva:

The external sex organ of a woman is called vulva. It also includes the clitoris. It is like the lips on the genitalia, with the bartholin gland attached to it. This gland keeps the vagina smooth.

Uterus:

This pear and closed fist-shaped organ is on the lower part of stomach of the women. The uterus is attached to the vagina from the bottom and the fallopian tubes (tube carrying eggs from the ovary to the uterus).

Fertilized eggs develop at this place. Along with the menstrual cycle, the lining of the uterus continues to be formed every month.

Hymen:

It is a thin membrane of tissues inside the vagina. This membrane narrows the passage of the vaginal mouth of women. Many times this membrane is broken when doing yoga or sex.

Cervical Cancer:

Cervical cancer that occurs in the cervix is caused by human papilloma virus (HPV). It grows slowly and it is revealed only after a Pap test. It can be reduced to a great extent by taking medicines for the prevention of human papilloma virus (HPV).

Breast Cancer:

The tumor in breast affects the breast tissue of a woman. It can be fatal in many ways, but from time to time it can be identified and treated in the first stage itself. This cancer can occur in both men and women, but it is more likely to occur in women. It is believed that 1 in every 8 women is likely to develop breast cancer.

Douching:

It means washing the vagina and anus with water or a mixture of other fluids to reduce vaginal odor. You should consult a doctor before washing the vagina. This method causes sexually transmitted infections and is also not safe in the pregnancy.

Pap Smear:

Pap smear is also known as Pap test.

In this method, some cells are taken from the cervix, from which cervical cancer and human papilloma virus (HPV) are detected. This test is a part of pelvic examination of a woman.

Mammogram:

A mammogram is a screening procedure to identify the breast cancer. In this procedure, an X-ray of the breast of the women is done, in which abnormalities and any lumps on the breast can be detected.

Penis:

The reproductive organ of a male is called the penis, which consists of three soft tissues. These soft tissues are filled with blood during stimulation. This tissue only stimulates the penis. Urine and semen fluid are released from this male organ.

Circumcision:

It is the partial or complete removal of foreskin from the human penis. In women, this practice removes the outer part of their genitalia i.e. the upper part of the clitoral. It is also known as shearing.

Stimulation in Male Genitalia:

When the penis is filled with blood before sexual activity in males, it causes excitement in the genitalia and becomes larger than normal. This is called stimulation in the male genitalia.

Ejaculation:

It is the process of ejaculation emanating from the penis of men at the peak pleasure of sexual activity. At the same time, in the state of extreme pleasure in women, the fluid from the vagina is ejaculated.

Semen:

It is white colored fluid coming out of male genitalia. It contains sperm and liquid. This substance originates from the prostate gland. Experts say that in different men, the number of sperm present in the semen at the time of ejaculation varies from 200 million to 50 million.

Testicles:

Testicles are the part of male genitalia, which are in two ball-shaped positions below the penis. These testicles are inside a scrotum, which make up the male hormones. Rape:

Sex with anyone forcefully, which includes vaginal, anal or oral sex, is called rape. Rape is the penetration of any body part into a woman’s genitals or sensitive organs. It is a punishable offense under the Indian Penal Code. The convict can be sentenced to a minimum of seven years of life imprisonment.

Virginity:

The state of never engaging in sex with anyone is called virginity. For everyone, virginity can mean different things.

The government and some non-profit organizations are doing the work to make people aware about sex education in India. In India, this work is divided on the following three grounds —

  • Making adults aware of family planning
  • Awareness to prevent HIV/AIDS

Sex Education for School Children:

Even today many children going to schools in India hesitate to talk to their parents and teachers about this topic. Not only this, whatever they read from TV and Internet, they believe the same to be true, whether that information is correct or not.

Awareness Campaign About Family Planning for Adults:

There are several programs under the Family Planning Awareness Campaign in India. In this program, women are trained under the ‘Asha’ program and these women work to make people aware of family planning in villages.

Information About HIV/AIDS:

Many teenagers are not fully aware about HIV and AIDS. While teenage girls still get information about sexually transmitted diseases by talking about books, internet and friends. Teenage girls are afraid to talk to their parents about this and feel hesitant.

FAMILIES ROLE IN SEX EDUCATION:


Home is the first school for children. Because of this, the basic information about sex education should be given to children from home. Even today, it is not considered good to talk about this subject in the houses of Indian society.

But it is very important for the family to educate their children on this subject. If children are given basic information about sex from home, then the child is not in a state of confusion about this subject. With this, he/she does not accept any false information about this topic from the Internet or friends, and only accepts it as true. Apart from this, you can also send your children to some special camps where it is explained in detail.

In this way, the child gets the right information about sex education and in the absence of incomplete information, the child is saved from the risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
